Vanderbilt Head Coach Geoff Macdonald:
On the match:
“We have lost six times this year and three of them are to Florida. I think you can say that they are a better team than we are in 2008. I commend them, they are a really, really good team. They’re doubles are strong, I do not know if they have lost a doubles’ point this year. They compete really well in singles. There is not a hole in the lineup. We fought hard in a couple of places. They just overmatched us. They were better.”
Florida Head Coach Roland Thornqvist:
On the potential matchup with defending champion Georgia Tech:
“Well they are obviously really good, they’re experienced, they have a bunch of returners from last year’s national championship team. So, we obviously know we are an underdog, but it is mostly an unfamiliar situation for us at Florida. But, I think this team is certainly going to relish that on Saturday, we have nothing to lose. At this point we are playing really, really well. We are playing well in doubles, competing together as a team, so I am looking forward to the challenge and I know our players are as well.”
On what he saw from his team against Vanderbilt:
“I thought we played really well, very, very well. We were sharp in No. 1 doubles, extremely sharp at No. 3 doubles and No. 2 doubles a little tentative. As had been the theme all year with this team, we have been tough to beat in doubles, because we have three teams that can win at any given time. So, today certainly the depth of our lineup in doubles played a key role, as it did in singles. Once again at No. 4, 5 and 6 we’re off the court pretty quickly, we turned what could be a really dramatic match going into the wee hours of the night into a short, sweet contest for us. So, I think we feel really good right now.”
