Game Notes

– Vanderbilt’s regular season came to an end with the first round loss to the Crimson Tide. The Commodores finished the regular season with a 19-12 overall record.
– Alabama extended their series lead to 65-62 and evened the season series after Vanderbilt defeated the Crimson Tide, 79-74, at Memorial Gym on February 5. The series at the SEC Tournament is now tied at four.
– The Commodores are now 29-47 all-time at the SEC Tournament, and 0-2 all-time at the St. Pete Times Forum.

First half notes – Alabama 36 Vanderbilt 30
– Alabama won the tip
– Alabama jumped on VU early, opening the game on a 10-2 run. Vanderbilt’s first field goal did not come until the 14:26 mark on a Jermaine Beal layup.
– VU cut the Crimson Tide lead to 30-28 with 2:49 left in the first half. It would be as close as Vanderbilt would get the rest of the night.
George Drake led all Vanderbilt scorers with nine points in the first half. Brad Tinsley and Jeffery Taylor each had six points.
– Alabama shot 46.9% from the floor (15-32) in the first half, while VU shot 39.3% (11-28).
A.J. Ogilvy led the team with six rebounds.
– With 11:22 to go in the first half, Brad Tinsley hit a three-point basket to expand VU’s streak to 729 games with a three-pointer. The Commodores are one of three teams in the country who have hit a three-pointer in every game since the rule’s inception in the 1986-87 season.

Second half notes
– Alabama opened the second half on a 10-1 run, and stretched their lead to as many as 16 points with 14:45 to go in the game.
– The Commodores’ first made field goal in the second half did not come until the 14:02 mark in the second half.
Jeffery Taylor scored nine out of the team’s first 13 points in the second half.
A.J. Ogilvy did not register his first made field goal until the 54 second mark in regulation.

PostGame Notes
– The Commodores shot 40.0% for the game (25-65), while Alabama shot 47.5% from the field (28-59).
– Vanderbilt ended the regular season with a 1-12 record after trailing at the half. The Commodores were 0-12 in games in which they trailed after the five minute mark in regulation.
– The Commodores have a 3-5 record when they get outrebounded by their opponent.
– Vanderbilt is now 8-8 in SEC first round games.
– Head coach Kevin Stallings is now 5-9 all-time at the SEC Tournament.
– The Commodores attempted 30 threes for the game, which is a new season high.

Individual Notes
– Freshman Brad Tinsley scored 20 points to lead Vanderbilt. The 20 points was a new career high. He also tied a career-high with five made three-point field goals.
Jeffery Taylor scored 17 points. George Drake added 14 points for Vanderbilt.
A.J. Ogilvy and Jermaine Beal were a combined 4-for-18 from the field.
– Ogilvy had a career-high six assists. Beal also had six assists.
