Former Commodore star Carolyn Peck knew she was going to be back in Memorial Gymnasium Sunday to serve as the analyst for Vanderbilt’s game against Tennessee on ESPN. What she didn’t know was that at halftime of the game, she would be surprised with the news that she would be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
At halftime, Peck was summoned to the center of the court, where Bill Emmendorfer, Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, and David Williams, Director of Athletics at Vanderbilt, presented her with the news.
In September, Peck was inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Fame. Now In May, she will enter the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
A native of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Peck helped lead Vanderbilt to the school’s first NCAA Tournament and finished her career as Vanderbilt’s No. 6 career scorer.
After her playing career, Peck embarked on a coaching career that was highlighted by leading Purdue to the 1999 national championship. Peck was named uSBWA Coach of the Year in 1999. Peck also coached at Florida and in the WNBA with the Orlando Miracle before transitioning into a broadcasting career with ESPN.
