NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia picked up his third award from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association this fall when he was announced as Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday.
It’s the third time this season, and fourth dating back to the beginning of the 2024 campaign, that the organization has honored the Albuquerque, New Mexico, resident.
In the nationally-ranked Commodores’ 70-21 victory over Georgia State on Saturday, Pavia recorded 322 total yards before the break as the Dores built a 42-9 halftime advantage. He finished the night completing 18-of-24 attempts for 245 yards and a score while also leading all players with a season-best 86 yards and a touchdown on nine carries as his 330 yards of total offense were the most he has posted this year.
With the effort, Pavia surpassed 1,000 yards rushing, 3,000 yards passing and 4,000 yards of total offense in his Vanderbilt career.
He guided a Commodore offense that scored 70 points for the first time since the 1918 campaign and also averaged a school-record 8.9 yards per play after gaining 635 total yards on the night.
Pavia and No. 18/20 Vanderbilt—off to its first 4-0 start since 2008—return to action on Saturday, playing host to Utah State at FirstBank Stadium. Kickoff for the Dores’ final nonconference contest of the fall is set for 11:45 a.m., with the game airing on SEC Network.
