The final game took a total of three hours and 15 minutes and she and former UCLA player Lauren Fisher were matched up against their friends — Tammy Encina and Alison Ojeda. Both Ojeda and Encina played at Tennessee; Encina faced current Commodore Audra Falk in the #1 singles last season.

The tournament included players from all different backgrounds and countries including Mexico, Great Britain, France and Canada. “The level of competition in Mexcio was strong,” said Tsoubanos. “There were several high players from the U.S., Mexico and Argentina but I felt that my training and prior tournaments prepared me for that competition. I had confidence going into the tournaments.”

Aleke earned $10,000 from this tournament but this was not the first award she has captured. She played in a singles event worth $10,000 in Fort Worth. She also paired up with current Commodore Audra Falk for an event in Baltimore and with Kelly Schmandt in Evansville and Louisville. The other event she won was with Schmandt in Evansville. She is headed to Birmingham, Alabama this weekend to compete in a $25,000 tournament. The tournament will be held on clay courts and Aleke will match up with former teammate and doubles partner Sarah Riske.

As to the future, Aleke said, “I’m also trying to finalize plans to play three $25K’s in Australia in November.” Looks like she is just beginning the path to another win!
