NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pair of Vanderbilt women’s basketball players have signed a training camp contract with a WNBA team this week, as Sacha Washington inked a deal with the Atlanta Dream, while Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda signed with the Golden State Valkyries.
Washington and Mwenentanda will be the third and fourth Commodore women’s basketball alumni to be added to a WNBA roster this week. Justine Pissott, who just concluded her three-year career at Vanderbilt, was drafted by the Indiana Fever with the 25th overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft on Monday, while Mariella Fasoula, who played for the Dores from 2018-20, will join Mwenentanda in Golden State’s training camp.
Washington spent five seasons with the Commodores, having redshirted the 2024-25 campaign due to a medical issue. The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native played in 132 games with 105 starts for the Dores, averaging 10.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. She held a career field goal percentage of 50.6 percent, collected 29 career double-doubles and averaged double figures in each of her final three seasons at Vanderbilt. The forward was the only active SEC player in 2025-26 to have over 1,300 points, 900 rebounds and 100 blocks in their career. Washington’s 969 career rebounds put her fifth all-time in Vanderbilt history, while her 133 blocks put her eighth all-time in school history.
Mwenentanda started in all 34 games during her lone season at Vanderbilt. She transferred to the Dores after three seasons at Texas, where she started for the Longhorns during their Final Four run in 2025. The 6-2 guard averaged a career-high 6.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game with the Commodores in 2025-26. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native shot a personal-best 47.2 percent from the floor and made 20 3-point field goals after hitting all of seven 3-pointers during her three seasons at Texas.
Both played key roles for Vanderbilt in 2025-26, helping the Commodores advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 17 seasons. The Commodores posted a 29-5 overall and went 13-3 in SEC games. Vandy’s 29 wins are the third-most in program history, while the 13 SEC victories set the school record for the most conference victories in a season. The Dores earned a No. 2 seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament and hosted March Madness games in Memorial Gymnasium for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign. The Dores concluded the SEC regular season tied for second place, matching the best conference finish in program history.
