Weekend Preview: Vanderbilt concludes the regular season with a three-game home series against South Carolina beginning Thursday.

  • Vanderbilt trails South Carolina 41-65 all-time. The home team has won each of the last four series with the Commodores winning two of three in both 2021 and 2023 in Nashville.

Brodie Barrels: Brodie Johnston is sixth in the SEC in hits, eighth in total bases, fifth in doubles and eighth in runs scored.

  • Johnston’s 15 long balls in 2025 were the most by a Vanderbilt freshman since Pedro Alvarez hit 22 in 2006.
  • He was named MVP of the 2025 SEC Tournament as a freshman.

Be Like Mike: Mike Mancini has hit nine home runs in SEC games, fifth-most in the league.

  • In SEC play, he ranks 20th in RBI, fourth in stolen bases, 34th in slugging and is 16th in OPS.
  • For the season, Mancini leads the team in stolen bases with 18 on 18 attempts and is second in OPS at 1.056. His 39 walks lead the team and rank fifth among SEC batters.
  • Mancini is the first Commodore since Jeren Kendall in 2017 with 15 or more home runs and 15 or more stolen bases.

Holc Smash: Braden Holcomb leads Vanderbilt in doubles with 17 and is second in home runs with 14.

  • Holcomb’s 72 hits is tied for fourth in the SEC. He ranks third in doubles and 11th in RBI.
  • His 21 multi-hit games are tied for first on the team and his 12 multi-RBI games is second.
  • Holcomb was ranked as the No. 24 outfielder by D1baseball in their Week 12 position rankings.

Power Surge: Vanderbilt has hit a program record 106 home runs this season.

  • The Commodores rank fifth in DI and have homered in all but 11 games.
  • Vanderbilt’s .927 team OPS ranks 20th in DI.
  • Vandy’s seven homers in the win over North Dakota State on March 6 was the most in a game for the Dores since 2018.

Brooks Wallace Award Semifinalist: Ryker Waite was named one of 50 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award on April 22.

  • He is hitting .299 this season with 20 extra-base hits, 36 RBI and 38 walks.
  • Defensively, Waite has 12.59 defensive runs saved, good for fourth nationally among shortstops according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • His 38 walks are second on the team and seventh in the SEC.
  • The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.

Walk This Way: Vanderbilt’s 282 walks rank 27th among DI programs and fifth in the SEC.

  • Mike Mancini’s 39 walks lead the team and rank fifth in the league. Ryker Waite is second with 38 walks, seventh-most in the conference. Logan Johnstone’s 37 walks rank eighth.
  • After drawing 10 walks last season, Brodie Johnston has surpassed that total as a sophomore, currently sitting at 30.

Strong Side: Vanderbilt has arguably the nation’s best defensive duo on the left side of the infield.

  • Brodie Johnston (3B, 11.58) and Ryker Waite (SS, 12.59) each rank top-10 in defensive runs saved for their respective positions according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • D1Baseball ranked Johnston as the No. 3 third baseman in their Week 12 position rankings while Waite came in at No. 25 for shortstops.
