TULSA, Okla. – Senior Christina Rosca and sophomore Georgia Drummy advanced in the ITA All-Americans after claiming victories in the opening round of singles on Wednesday at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park.
Opening up play, Drummy faced No. 8 seed Kenya Jones from Georgia Tech. Drummy dominated in the first set defeating Jones, 7-5. In the second set Jones outlasted Drummy, 6-4, to force a third. Securing her spot in the Round of 32, Drummy bested Jones 6-4 in the final set.
Joining Drummy in the Round of 32, Rosca notched her sixth victory of the fall by defeating Hawaii’s Petra Melounova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
“I’m really happy with how the day went. Georgia and I played some good tennis adjusting to the indoor courts due to the rain. I’m looking forward to playing our first round of doubles tomorrow and looking to play a little smart in singles as well,” said Rosca.
Rosca and Drummy will be back in action battling in the first round on doubles play followed by the singles Round of 32 on Thursday.
