Dec. 1, 2015
The 2015 Vanderbilt Omaha Challenge opened at dawn on Monday morning inside Vanderbilt Stadium with a short but devastatingly difficult day featuring the first-ever #VandyBoys triathlon followed by the pipe push.
The triathlon featured 500 meters of rowing, 20 box jumps and pushing a 125-pound sled 100 yards before finishing with a 20-yard sprint to the finish line. Tyler Green captured the triathlon title with a time of 2:53.0 just ahead of Will Toffey’s 2:53.9.
The pipe push is a simple 100-yard sprint while pushing a short piece of PVC pipe on the turf. Bryan Reynolds broke the tape in 19.82 – the only Commodore to finish under 20 seconds – to earn the win in the event.
Day 2 of the Challenge will test the Dores’ strength as the team heads to the weight room for four events.
