Nine Dores on Academic Honor Roll

Vandy student-athletes recognized for academic prowess

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt bowling program placed nine student-athletes on the Southland Bowling League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.

Angelica Anthony, Mabel Cummins, Angelique Dalesandro, Samantha Gainor, Amelia Kiefer, Jennifer Loredo, Amanda Naujokas, Lauren Potechin and Caroline Thesier were all recognized. Vandy’s nine selections tied for most among SBL members.

The SBL Academic Honor Roll was put into place during the 2018-19 academic year and is currently in its third season of recognition. All nominees for the Southland Bowling League’s Academic Honor Roll team must have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least one year at the nominating institution.

Gainor, a senior majoring in economics, had a 3.06 GPA while fellow senior Potechin, a mechanical engineering and math major, had a 3.76 ERA. Juniors Anthony (medicine, health and society) and Dalesandro (human and organizational development) sported GPAs of 3.81 and 3.36, respectively.

A neuroscience major and sophomore, Cummins had a 3.35 major while fellow sophomore and human and organizational development major Kiefer finished with a 3.59 ERA. Freshmen Loredo (undeclared), Naujokas (early childhood education) and Thesier (undeclared) ended their first seasons in Nashville with GPAs of 3.77, 3.42 and 3.37, respectively.

Vanderbilt finished the 2020-21 season as the Southland Bowling League champions before losing to eventual national champion Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament.
