TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Senior Danil Panarin is now the lone Commodore with a chance at NCAA qualification after moving on from the opening day of the ITA South Sectional Championships hosted by Florida State.

Both Panarin and senior Hugo Coquelin took the court in singles on Friday; the latter faced the Seminoles' Gabor Hornung while Coquelin, the No. 7 seed, took on Andrew Delgado of Georgia. It was a near perfect match by Panarin, who downed Hornung 6-1, 6-3 to move into the singles round of 16.

Coquelin, who secured the first set over Delgado 6-4, began dealing with cramps throughout the remainder of the match. Despite the challenge, the Dore still forced a third set before bowing out 7-5 in the final frame. Panarin and Coquelin did not compete in doubles afterwards.

Panarin returns to play on Friday at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) against the singles No. 8 seed Vlado Jankanj from Ole Miss. The tournament overview, entry list, draws and more can be accessed via the ITA South Sectional Championship tournament page. Live streaming is available online.
