NASHVILE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s women’s cross country team captured first place and the men’s team finished third at the Vanderbilt Invite at Percy Warner Park Tuesday morning, with Hannah Huyler leading the women to victory with an individual first-place finish and Jackson Scruggs pacing the Commodore men.
Jackson Scruggs finished 16th overall with a time of 16:29.73. Luke Churchwell was Vanderbilt’s second finisher, coming in 18th overall with a time of 16:30.10. Sam Darmanie followed closely behind in 19th overall, clocking 16:30.13. Mark Meister and Tommy O’Brien followed with times of 16:30.28 and 16:30.46, respectively, to round out the Commodores’ scoring performers. Mitchel Drees, Brody Chapman, Finn Richards and Michael Skora followed closely behind, finishing 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th overall, respectively.
On the women’s side, Hannah Huyler registered a time of 17:54.22 to place first overall. Ella Mogannam came in second among Vanderbilt runners and second overall with a time of 17:54.29. Myrto Valacha was next to cross the finish line for the Dores, placing third overall with a time of 17:54.30. Claire Guiberson and Carolina Areheart followed with times of 17:54.37 and 18:53.67, respectively, to round out the Commodores’ scoring performers. Betsy Jepkemei, Kenyah Conner and Eva Gautreaux followed, finishing 11th, 20th and 28th overall, respectively, with times of 18:54.39, 19:55.15 and 21:15.75.
