BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt forward Sydney Watts was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Watts scored three of the No. 3 Commodores’ five goals during their Texas road trip, including two crucial second-half goals to seal a 2-1 comeback victory over Houston. The senior now ranks fourth in program history with 31 career goals.
It’s the third such honor for Watts, who twice won it last season en route to winning SEC Forward of the Year. Following the sixth brace of her career and first of the season, the Lenexa, Kansas, native is tied for fifth in the country in points per game (3.0) and tied for 12th in goals per game (1.2).
