NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis brought home six total Ohio Valley Region awards, announced by the ITA on Tuesday.
Each season, the ITA recognizes coaches and student-athletes for their excellence both on the court and in their communities throughout the year. And after being recognized with four award selections in 2025, the Commodores took all but two honors this season.
Head coach Aleke Tsoubanos was named ITA/Dunlop Coach of the Year while associate head coach Jack Findel-Hawkins earned the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year award. The pair helped guide Vandy to the most wins in the Tsoubanos era, finishing 2026 with 22 dual match victories. It is the second season the black and gold have produced at least 20 wins with Tsoubanos at the helm.
For a second consecutive year, Vanderbilt secured the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship award courtesy of Sonya Macavei. Amy Stevens earned the honor last season. It is yet another recognition of Macavei’s impact on and off the court after receiving the university’s SEC Brad Davis Community Service Award nomination in May.
Freshmen Erin Pearce and Mia Yamakita were both listed for regional awards, with Pearce being named the ITA Player to Watch ahead of the 2026-27 season and Yamakita earning ITA Rookie of the Year honors. Both finished their debut season for the Dores with more than 20 singles wins while reaching as high as No. 43 in the doubles rankings together.
Senior Bridget Stammel rounded out the multitude of awards for Vanderbilt with the title of ITA Senior Player of the Year. The award comes on the heels of All-SEC and All-American selections, as well as a CSC first-team Academic All-America spot. Stammel ended her career leading Vanderbilt in dual match wins with 21 throughout the 2026 season.
