CARLSBAD, Calif. – Vanderbilt men’s golf freshman Jon Ed Steed was named to the 2025-26 NCAA Division I All-Freshman Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday.
Steed becomes the fourth Vanderbilt golfer selected to the GCAA’s All-Freshman team. He becomes the first Commodore to earn the honor since Gordon Sargent during the 2021-22 campaign.
The Enterprise, Alabama, native enjoyed a breakout rookie campaign for the Commodores. The first-year Dore ranked second on the team in scoring average at 70.85 and has posted a pair of top-five finishes. Steed played in all 11 events this season and has had his score count in 28 of the 34 rounds he played in the lineup.
He ended the season as the second-highest-ranked freshman in the SEC on CLIPPD rankings. Steed’s best 18-hole performance came in the third round of the Linger Longer Invitational, as he carded 4-under 67. His best 54-hole total also came at the Linger Longer, where he carded 9-under 207 to finish in fourth place.
This past week, Steed posted a 2-under 286 at the 2026 NCAA Championship to finish tied for 26th. He set the Vanderbilt record for lowest round score by a freshman at an NCAA Championship in Round 2, as he carded 5-under 67 on Saturday.
In addition to his GCAA All-Freshman Team honor, Steed has been named to the GCAA All-Southeast Region team and the All-SEC freshman team during his first season with the Commodores.
