NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Devin McGlockton will take his shot at the NBA after agreeing to a Summer League deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In two seasons with the Commodores, McGlockton averaged 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds while starting all 69 games for the black and gold. He shot 56.1 percent from the field and 31.8 percent beyond the arc during his time in Nashville.
“Devin will do whatever it takes to help a team win, and every team wants someone who is willing to do that,” head coach Mark Byington said. “He is an unselfish warrior, and I am excited for him to show that for the Timberwolves.”
McGlockton made an instant impact for the Dores, setting the school record with a perfect 10-for-10 performance from the field in his first game at Vandy. The versatile McGlockton became known for making the winning plays during his stint in Memorial Gymnasium. He produced a memorable moment of Memorial Magic with a tip-in game winner against South Carolina as a junior.
The Cumming, Georgia, native was an integral part of establishing Vanderbilt’s winning ways under Byington, helping the black and gold to 47 wins in two seasons. He also propelled the Commodores to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and the first March Madness victory in over a decade.
McGlockton is the fourth Commodore to ink an NBA deal this summer, joining New York Knicks draft pick Tyler Nickel, Lakers signee AK Okereke and Sixers signee Duke Miles.
