NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 10/8 Vanderbilt heads to Texas for a Wednesday night showdown against the Longhorns. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN2 with Lowell Galindo and King McClure on the call.

Vanderbilt is playing its first game as a top 10 team since 2011. Kevin Ingram and Tim Thompson will carry the action on 102.5 The Game and the Vanderbilt Sports Network.

INTO THE TOP 10

  • Vandy climbed into the top 10, coming in at No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll. The Commodores are ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll for the first time since the 2011-12 preseason poll.
  • The No. 10 ranking is Vanderbilt’s best in-season mark since finishing the 1992-93 season at No. 8.
  • The Commodores are ranked seventh in the NET heading into the Texas matchup.

TT PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • Sophomore Tyler Tanner was named the SEC Player of the Week after averaging 24.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals last week.
  • Against Alabama, Tanner dropped a career-high 29 points while adding seven assists and four steals. He is the first player to have 25/7/4 or better in an AP top 15 matchup since Trae Young in 2018. In the past 30 years, only five players have accomplished the feat: Tanner, Young, Chris Paul, Mike Bibby and DeAndre Kane.

YEAR OF THE DORES

  • There’s no better place for basketball in 2025-26 than Vanderbilt with both the men’s and women’s teams undefeated thus far in 2025-26.
  • Vanderbilt is the only school in the country with both its men’s and women’s programs unbeaten.
  • Add in football’s historic season and the big three programs are 43-3 this season.

GAME CONTROL

  • Vanderbilt has played 645 minutes of basketball this season in 16 games. The Dores have trailed for just 22:02 of game time. That’s only 3.5 percent of minutes played this season.
  • The Dores have gone wire-to-wire on seven occasions and trailed for less than a minute in three more games.
  • The win over Alabama marked just the second game this season where the Dores trailed in the second half. Vandy has trailed after halftime for just 9:48 this season.
  • Vandy’s largest deficit of the season? 5 points against Western Kentucky and Memphis.

DOUBLE NICKEL

  • Senior Tyler Nickel recorded his first career double-double in the win over LSU, going for 19 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Nickel hit four first-half threes to spark Vandy to a 52-point opening frame, it’s most in an SEC contest under Mark Byington.
  • The game was the eighth time this season Nickel hit four or more threes and 12th occasion with at least three triples.
  • Naturally, the 10 rebounds marked a career high to earn the double-double.
  • Nickel is averaging 3.6 boards per game this season, a career best and a full rebound per game better than any previous season.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Vanderbilt visits Austin for just the third time with the all-time series tied at 5-5. Vandy is 0-2 in Austin with both meetings coming as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge in 2013 and 2016.
  • The Commodores and Longhorns split a pair of meetings last season.
  • Vandy has never lost to the Longhorns when scoring more than 75 points.
