BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 25 Vanderbilt soccer had two players tabbed for SEC honors this week highlighted by Ally Bollig, who was named offensive player for the first time of her career.

Bollig, a senior from Aiken, South Carolina, delivered one of the biggest moments of the season so far for Vanderbilt, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over No. 16 Georgetown on Thursday night. After being sidelined for three years due to injury, her first career goal came when she buried the game-winner just before halftime to give the Commodores their first top-25 victory of the season.

On the defensive end, Sara Wojdelko was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week as she anchored the Commodores’ back line in a pair of shutout victories over 16th-ranked Georgetown and at Middle Tennessee. Against the Hoyas, Wojdelko recorded nine saves in a 1-0 victory. Time and again she denied quality chances, including multiple stops in the second half that preserved the Commodores’ lead and sealed the program’s first top-25 win of the fall. She followed that performance with another shutout on the road at Middle Tennessee, playing all 90 minutes in a 1-0 victory.

Bollig, Wojdelko and the Commodores open their conference slate on Friday, hosting LSU. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be seen on SEC Network+.
