NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three Vanderbilt student-athletes were named to the Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list, announced by USA Baseball on Tuesday.

The Vandy trio of Enrique Bradfield Jr., Dominic Keegan and Chris McElvain were each tabbed to the watch list, as Vanderbilt’s three selections tied for a national best. The Commodores joined Tennessee and Texas, who also had three student-athletes represented.

Bradfield is batting .320 this season to rank third on the team, while leading the squad in runs scored with 30. The sophomore outfielder is a perfect 18-for-18 on stolen base attempts this year, which places him atop the SEC.

Keegan boasts a team-leading .406 average, and has driven in 28 runs on the year. He has registered five home runs to tie for second on the team, while slugging .677.

McElvain owns a 4-1 record on the mound across his seven starts, while sporting a 3.16 ERA. He has pitched in two of Vanderbilt’s six shutouts on the year, including a career-high 7.0 scoreless frames at South Carolina on March 24.

On May 24, USA Baseball will announce the semifinalists for the 2022 Golden Spikes Award. The list of semifinalists will then be sent to a voting body consisting of baseball media members, select professional baseball personnel, current USA Baseball staff and the previous winners of the award, representing a group of more than 150 voters.

As part of this selection process, all voters will be asked to choose three players from the list of semifinalists. On June 8, USA Baseball will announce the finalists, and voting for the winner will begin that same day.
