Wildcats Up Next for Dores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fifth-ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis travels to Lexington, Kentucky to face No. 22 Kentucky on Friday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center at 4 p.m. CT.
 
The Commodores enter Friday’s matchup boasting an 11-5 overall record and a 6-2 conference record after going 1-1 last weekend.
 
On Friday, the Dores dropped a tough match to No. 4 South Carolina, 4-0. However, the Commodores bounced back on Sunday to clinch the match over SEC rival Florida, 4-3.
 
Freshman Georgia Drummy leads the Commodores in dual-match victories, picking up her 11th singles win over Florida’s No. 67 Victoria Emma, 6-0, 6-3, on Sunday.
 
Vanderbilt has suffered only two road losses, falling to No. 7 Stanford, 6-1, and SEC opponent Texas, 4-2.
 
This season, the Wildcats have earned five conference victories. In its last SEC matchup, Kentucky fell to South Carolina, 4-3, after defeating Florida on Friday, 4-3.
 
Kentucky’s loss to the Gamecocks broke the Wildcats’ perfect 10-0 home record and spoiled its undefeated record overall (10-1).
 
Kentucky is 15-4 overall and features one student-athlete in the Oracle/ITA rankings.
 
Senior Justina Mikulskytė checks in at No. 35 in singles play sporting 11 singles victories, earning her last match win with an upset over South Carolina’s No.7 Ingrid Gamarra Martins, 6-1, 6-3.
 
Last season, the Commodores outlasted the Wildcats, 4-1, at the Vanderbilt Currey Tennis Center.
