Vanderbilt lacrosse gets back to BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday with the second of three straight home games, as Villanova visits the Commodores at 12:30 p.m. The team will host a pregame kids’ egg hunt beginning at noon at the field, with free admission for both the egg hunt and the game.

The Commodores (6-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) are coming off a non-conference loss to Oregon while the Wildcats (5-4, 0-2 BIG EAST) are seeking their first conference win after losses to Georgetown and Marquette.

Vanderbilt attacker Emily Mathewson leads the team with 48 points, and has scored 13 points on six goals and seven assists in her past two games. The sophomore from Garnet Valley, Pa. set a new personal-best with four assists in Wednesday’s game against Oregon.

“A lot of attackers are criticized for maybe wanting to make the pretty plays and get the goals, but that’s just not her makeup,” Vanderbilt head coach Cathy Swezey said after the loss. “She’ll do whatever we ask of her and she works very hard, so we appreciate her.”

Mathewson scored her 50th collegiate goal in her 25th collegiate game Wednesday, while senior attacker Kayla Peterson is just 10 goals away from 100 career goals.

Opening draw for the BIG EAST matchup is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the VU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The game will be streamed via Facebook Live at Facebook.com/VanderbiltAthletics.
