Vanderbilt Basketball Postgame Notes

Vanderbilt 73, Florida 71

Team Record and Series Notes:

-Vanderbilt now owns a 17-14 record overall and 10-8 in the conference.

-It was the second time this season that Vanderbilt has defeated Florida. The Commodores also bested the Gators in Gainesville, Fla. on Jan. 21 by a score of 68-66.

-Florida leads the all-time series record 68-67

-Vanderbilt now has a 3-2 record this season against ranked opponents

-Next up for Vanderbilt is the SEC Tournament from Mar. 8-12 in Nashville, Tenn. at Bridgestone Arena.

Team Notes:

-Vanderbilt’s five made 3-point field goals were its fewest since Dec. 8, 2016 against Middle Tennessee.

-Vanderbilt’s first lead in the second half came at the 3:25 mark on a Riley LaChance layup to make the score 65-63.

-The Commodores outscored the Gators 28-15 in the final 10 minutes of gameplay.

Player Notes:

-Luke Kornet scored a season-high 24 points including 8-for-10 on free throws.

-24 points tied a career-high for Kornet. He last accomplished the feat on Nov. 23, 2014 against Tennessee State.

-It was also the second consecutive game scoring 20 or more points for Kornet.

-Kornet also added two blocks for Vanderbilt. He is now just one block away from the school’s all-time record.

-Jeff Roberson was the second leading scorer for Vanderbilt with 15 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting performance and 4-for-for from the free throw line.

-Nolan Cressler and Riley LaChance rounded out the list of double-figures scorers for Vanderbilt with 13 points apiece.

-Kornet, Roberson and Cressler all corralled six rebounds apiece, which marked a team-high.

-LaChance recorded a team-high four assists on the day.

-Seniors Nolan Cressler and Luke Kornet were both honored before the game as a part of the team’s Senior Night
