Vanderbilt freshman Abbey Carlson fired an even-par, 72, on Saturday in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club and leads the Commodores after two rounds with a score of 143 (71-72), which ties her for 10th place individually. As a team, Vanderbilt is in eighth place with a total of 591 (295-296).

The Commodores carded a 296 on a rain-soaked Saturday on the North Course, with play delayed for two hours because of excessive water on the course. Vanderbilt counted Carlson’s 72, a 74 from senior Kate Sborov and junior Alexandra Farnsworth, and a 76 from sophomore Courtney Zeng.

“I’m really proud of the effort and the patience the girls showed on a really long, tough day,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “Although the scoreboard may not show it, we got better today and that’s what I want to see each and every day. From a tournament host standpoint, I’m very grateful for all the volunteers, the TGA folks and Legends and Vandy athletics staff that put in a very long, weather-delayed day.”

Alabama leads the tournament after two rounds after carding a 10-under par, 278, on Saturday, the best round of the event so far, and has a two-round score of 562 (284-278). The Crimson Tide lead second-place Northwestern by 18 strokes heading into the final round. Individually, the Crimson Tide’s Cheyenne Knight leads the tournament with a nine-under, 135.

The final round of the tournament begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning on the number one and 10 tees.
