Vanderbilt All-American triple jumper Simone Charley will be returning to her old stomping grounds — or, in her case, leaping grounds — this weekend when she travels to Birmingham, Ala., for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The Championships are being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Charley competed at the venue numerous times during her high school career at Spain Park (Ala.) High, and she will have a large group of friends and family at this weekend’s meet.
Charley — who broke her own school record, and set the nation’s No. 3 mark, with a leap of 43.9.75 at last month’s Music City Challenge — is scheduled to compete on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Here’s a closer look at this weekend’s NCAA meet, along with video interviews with Charley and associate head coach Clark Humphreys.

Charley earned First Team All-American honors with her jump and garnered five points for the Commodores while competing against the nation’s Top-16 triple jumpers.
