Former Vanderbilt assistant coach Kim Rosamond was named the head coach at Tennessee Tech on Thursday afternoon. Rosamond replaces former Tennessee Tech head coach Jim Davis, who retired following the 2015-16 season.
Rosamond has served on head coach Melanie Balcomb’s staff at Vanderbilt since the 2007-08 season.
In her role of recruiting coordinator, Rosamond has consistently helped the Commodores land highly-rated signing classes. This year’s incoming class is ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation by Blue Star Report and is the top-ranked class in the SEC. The class includes McDonald’s All-American Chassity “LeaLea” Carter, the highest-ranked in-state recruit to come to Vanderbilt.
“Kim is a tireless worker and a relationship builder,” said Balcomb. “She is ready to lead her own program, and Tennessee Tech will be the perfect fit for her.”
This past season, as she completed her ninth year season on the bench at Vanderbilt, Rosamond helped the Commodores post an 18-14 overall record, including a pair of victories over Top 25 teams. Vanderbilt advanced to the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament.
“Kim’s commitment to growing the student-athlete at Vanderbilt has had a huge impact on our long-term success,” said Balcomb. “We will miss her, but we are extremely happy for this well-deserved promotion.”
