Former Vanderbilt Assistant Coach Josh Holliday was named the head coach at Oklahoma State today. Holliday played for the Cowboys from 1996-99 before beginning his coaching career in 2000. He joined Coach Corbin’s staff in 2009 as the team’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, landing the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation this past year.

“He’s the best of the very best,” Head Coach Tim Corbin said. “He has rare qualities, is very smart but humble and is a tremendous teacher. He is in coaching for the right reasons. I love he, his wife and his kids. They are a perfect college baseball family. Oklahoma State is very fortunate to have Josh and his family back in Stillwater. The community will experience a very positive and healthy culture because of his presence. Personally, we will miss he, Jenny, Liv and Brady greatly.”

As a player at Oklahoma State Holliday helped lead the Cowboys to the College World Series in 1999 and was inducted into the Oklahoma State University Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. He ranks among the career leaders in several categories, including home runs, walks, runs and hit by pitches. He was a success off the field as well, earning academic honors after each of his four seasons being named the Oklahoma State Male Athlete of the Year in 1999.
