With three matches left in the regular season, the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team hits the road for the weekend. The Commodores will play at LSU on Friday afternoon before heading to Arkansas on Sunday.
The Commodores posted a 7-3 record at the Currey Tennis Center this spring and are 10-7 overall. In the latest ITA College Tennis Poll, the Commodores stand at 21st, while three players are ranked for their performance in singles play. Alex Leatu leads the team at 68th, while Chelsea Preeg is 76th and Rachael Dillon stands at 188th. Leatu and Dillon are the 58th ranked doubles pair, and hold a 9-8 record together this spring.
LSU split their matches last weekend, defeating Auburn 5-2 and falling to Alabama 7-0. The Tigers are 10-10 overall and 4-4 in SEC matches. Whitney Wolf is ranked 66th by the ITA and holds a 6-12 record in No. 1 singles matches. LSU has seen some movement in its lineup, with Kaitlin Burns tallying four wins in the No. 2 and 3 positions. In doubles, the duo of Wolf and Burns hold a 4-3 record in No. 1 matches and are ranked 62nd in the nation.
The Razorbacks are ranked 17th in the nation and hold a 14-7 overall record, with a 4-4 mark in conference matches. Anouk Tigu is ranked 27th in the latest ITA singles poll, and she is ranked 24th in doubles with Claudine Paulson. Tigu is 10-6 in No. 1 singles matches this spring, and is 12-6 in doubles matches.
