Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt improved to 26-3 on the year winning the team’s seventh straight series with the club’s fourth sweep of the year and first-ever sweep at Auburn paired with a midweek win over UT-Martin for a perfect 4-0 week… On Tuesday against UT-Martin VU wasted no time racing to an early lead and winning 10-3… Sam Lind led the offense with three hits and three RBI in his first start at second base… The Commodores pounded out a season-high 20 hits on Friday night to cruise by Auburn 11-6… Five different Commodores had multi-hit games, including Tony Kemp, Anthony Gomez and Riley Reynolds who all had four-hit games… Curt Casali added three hits in the win and Reynolds drove in three runs… The top five spots in the order accounted for nine of the team’s 11 runs… Vanderbilt scored a season-high eight runs in the eighth inning to blow out Auburn on Saturday night 11-2 and clinch the series… VU scored all eight runs with two outs in the eighth sending 12 men to the plate… Aaron Westlake hit his team-best fifth home run of the year in the first inning and Kemp scored a career-best three runs in the victory… Mark Lamm entered in a one-run game and recorded the final seven outs without allowing a run to earn his first save of the year… Vandy finished off the team’s fourth sweep of the year on Sunday with a 6-2 win putting the game away in the seventh inning with four runs… Casali led the way for the Dores with three hits… For the week Vanderbilt outscored their opponents 38-13 and had 52 hits.
