Nashville, Tenn, – For the first time since 2007 the Vanderbilt Commodores are the top-ranked team in the country according to at least one college baseball poll.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll ranks the Commodores first in the poll released this afternoon. Vanderbilt replaces Florida at the top of the poll and is one of four SEC teams in the Top 10 and one of six SEC teams in the poll’s Top 30. VU is ranked second by Baseball America, USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ poll and Perfect Game while Collegiate Baseball tabs the Dores third.
Vanderbilt takes the field as the top-ranked team in the nation for the first time tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. against the Purdue Boilermakers. Freshman Kevin Ziomek gets the nod for the Commodores against Boilermakers’ right-hander Joe Haase.
