BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt redshirt freshman center Stephanie Holzer has been tabbed SEC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Holzer earned the award after averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins over LSU and at Florida. Holzer not only scored, she also scored very efficiently, hitting 64.5% percent (20-of-31) of her field-goal attempts.

The 20-point games for the 6-foot-4 Newtown Square, Pa., native were her first since the first two games of the season. Holzer scored 23 of Vanderbilt’s 55 points on 10-of-17 shooting against LSU. In Vanderbilt’s double overtime win at Florida, Holzer again totaled 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting and collected nine rebounds.

Holzer was also a major contributor on the defensive end, where she had two steals and a block against LSU and one steal and two blocks at Florida.

The Player of the Week honor is the first of Holzer’s career and the second this season by a Commodore. Hannah Tuomi earned the same award on Dec. 13. It is the first time Vanderbilt has received multiple SEC Player of the Week honors in the same season since 2005 (Dee Davis and Abi Ramsey).

Holzer was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Nov. 15 and is the first freshman to earn SEC Player of the Week since Georgia’s Tasha Humphrey Jan. 24, 2005.

Holzer is averaging 12.2 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds this season.

Winners of three straight, Vanderbilt plays at Georgia on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT (CSS).
