Vanderbilt fired a one-under par, 283, as a team on Saturday at the Stanford Intercollegiate and moved into fourth place with a total of 573 (290-283) heading into the final round of play on Sunday. The 283 was the second-best round of the day in Palo Alto, Calif. Sophomore Marina Alex stands at five-under par, 137 (66-71), after an even-par round, 71, on Saturday, and is in a tie for first with Arizona State’s Carlota Ciganda.

Freshman Lauren Stratton led the Commodores with a four-under par, 67, on Saturday and moved her total to even par, 142 (75-67) for the tournament, which places her in a tie for 14th overall.

Senior Brooke Goodwin also fired an even-par, 71, and is in a tie for 22nd with a total of 144 (73-71), while junior Megan Grehan and freshman Anna Leigh Keith each shot a 74 on Saturday. Both are in a tie for 45th with a total of 150.

“We got the good finish today that we needed yesterday,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “It was a big finish for Lauren, and a good back nine for Megan. It wasn’t going well for Marina early on, but she birdied 14 and 15, and got back to even par.

“I feel really good about where we are. We’re going to need a little help tomorrow, but we just want to put together a good round. It’s nice to know we’re making progress and putting together some good finishes.”

Arizona State leads the tournament with a total of 555 (273-282), seven strokes better than second-place UCLA, who sits at 562 (277-285) for the tournament.

The final round of the tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. Pacific time on Sunday.
