The Vanderbilt women’s golf team wraps up their regular season this weekend when the team travels to the SEC Championships in Blythewood, S.C., at the Cobblestone Park Golf Club. Play begins this Friday.

The Commodores, ranked 17th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin team rankings, will be seeking their second SEC Championship over the weekend. Vanderbilt’s last and only SEC title came in the 2004 season in Baton Rouge, La., when VU claimed the team title and the Commodores’ May Wood took home medalist honors at the tournament. Competing for this year’s SEC Championship are senior Jacqui Concolino, junior Brooke Goodwin, sophomore Megan Grehan, and freshmen Marina Alex and Andrea Messer.

The 12 teams will compete at the par-71, 6,165 Cobblestone Park Golf Club, a course ranked as the number one golf course in the Midlands for the last two years. The course’s signature hole is a 454-yard par 4. The tee shot yields a 60-foot elevation change down to the landing area, which doglegs right, then back up the hill to the green.

Six out of the 12 teams playing this weekend are ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 25. Auburn comes into the tournament as the highest ranked team at number six. The Tigers are followed by Alabama (#8), LSU (#10), Georgia (#15), Vanderbilt (#17), and Arkansas (#18).

Eighteen holes will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
