NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt’s men’s cross country team hosts its second annual “Vandy Mile Bonanza” Wednesday afternoon to benefit a college scholarship program some of its members began for Nashville’s Pearl-Cohn High School students.
Vanderbilt Students for Students is the sponsor, an organization conceived by Commodore distance runner Rob Whiting a year ago.
Students and community members are encourage to come to the Vanderbilt track, located on Natchez Trace, at 5:45 p.m. for fun and to assist in this worthy cause. Participants of all ages and fitness levels will run or walk one mile with organizers hoping to raise a minimum of $10 from each person.
The Commodore varsity runners will dress as “rabbits” to set a fun pace for the entire group. The event will have heats that will lump runners into approximate skill and fitness sets that range from walkers to sub-5 minute runners.
Donations will be accepted at the track or via a donation card available in the race packet.
