NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will host Florida Atlantic and Virginia Tech at the Currey Tennis Center this weekend.
Florida Atlantic (1-3) recently dropped matches to Florida State, Furman and Georgia State at the FSU Dual Match Invitational last weekend. Virginia Tech (4-0) is undefeated after taking four victories at the Larsen Baker Shootout in Blacksburg, Virginia Jan. 27 and 28.
“Both matches will be a challenge for us,” Vanderbilt Head Coach Ian Duvenhage said. “I was really happy with the team’s effort against Memphis on Sunday and I want to see the improvement continue.”
The Commodores opened the 2007 dual match season last week finishing 2-1, with wins over Tennessee Tech and Memphis and a loss to Western Michigan.
The Florida Atlantic match will begin at 2 p.m. CT on Friday followed by the Virginia Tech contest at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Senior Sachs Looks to Continue Win Streak
Vanderbilt (2-1) senior netter Nathan Sachs will be going into the weekend competitions against Florida Atlantic and Virginia Tech with an undefeated singles record.
Sachs (3-0) finished the fall season with a 6-6 record and has victories this season over opponents from Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan, and Memphis.
