Duke Leads Mason Rudolph After Day Two

9/16/2006 Duke players combined to shoot a second-round best 4-under par 284 to overtake Georgia for first place Saturday at the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin.
 
The Blue Devils (283+284=567), who have won the tournament each of the past two years, own a seven-shot lead over the second-place Bulldogs (280+294=574) heading into final round action Sunday.

Twelve of 15 teams in the tournament field are ranked in the preseason Top 25 by Golfweek magazine.
 
Jennie Lee of Duke (71+67=138) climbed into a first place tie with UCLA’s Tiffany Joh (69+69=138) after carding a 5-under par 67. Lee’s second-round score matched Mandy Goins of Wake Forest for the low score of the day. 
    
Vanderbilt improved to 11th place at 301+297=598.
 
Commodore sophomore Jacqui Concolino, played steady most of the day for Vanderbilt before a pair of bogies on two of her final three holes resulted in a 2-over par 74. Concolino is tied with seven other players for 19th position. Vanderbilt’s low score on Saturday came from senior Chris Brady (76+73=149) who moved into a tied for 35th place with a 1-over par 73.
 
Other Vanderbilt results from the second day included: senior Kristen Svicarovich (74-76=150) falling into a tied for 40th place with a 4-over par 76; junior Liebelei Lawrence (80+74=154) moving into a tie for 55th place after carding a 2-over par 74; and sophomore Amber Lundskog dropping into a tie for 72nd place with a 79+81=160.
 
Two other Commodores are playing unattached from the Vanderbilt squad. Freshman Brooke Goodwin (75+75=150) recorded her second consecutive 3-over par 75 on Saturday and is tied for 40th place.
Junior Julie Bartholomew posted an 81, slipping into a tie for 65th position (76+81=157).
 
Final round action begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format with players teeing off from separate holes at the same time.
