Kickoff Times Set For First Five Commodore Games 7/11/2005 Early-Season Schedule Includes Four Night Starts The Commodores will play four of their first five football games at night this season, athletic officials announced Monday after finalizing kickoff times for games through October 1. Each of the Commodores’ four early-season night games — at Wake Forest on Thursday, Sept. 1; at Arkansas on Saturday, Sept. 10; versus Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 24; and versus Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Oct. 1 — will feature kickoff at 6 p.m. CT. The start of Vanderbilt’s annual early-season encounter with Ole Miss, scheduled in Vanderbilt Stadium on Sept. 17, is set for 11:30 a.m. The Commodore-Rebel game will be regionally televised by Jefferson-Pilot Sports. All six games of the second half of Vanderbilt’s 11-game schedule, starting with consecutive home contests versus LSU and Georgia on Oct. 8 and Oct. 15, respectively, are likely to feature early afternoon starts, though no final announcement is expected until the season is underway. The Commodores enter the 2005 season trying to improve on a 2-9 campaign last year. The team features one of the Southeastern Conference’s top quarterbacks in senior Jay Cutler, the league’s top active tackler in senior linebacker Moses Osemwegie, and one of the SEC’s leading receivers in senior Erik Davis. Vanderbilt is offering the SEC’s most affordable season ticket for its six-game home schedule. Season tickets, starting as low as $65 per person, are available online, at the box office or by calling (615) 322-GOLD. |
