Commodores Attract 24 National Letters of Intent

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt Head Coach Bobby Johnson expressed pleasure with the Commodores’ Signing Class of 2005 introduced today.

The 24-prospect class should provide both increased size and improved athleticism to the Commodore roster, helping to replenish numbers on the line, receiving corps and defensive secondary.

“I’m pleased with this class and I’m pleased with my staff in developing the class,” Johnson said. “We entered the process needing to stress particular positions affected by losses. At the same time, our staff wants to attract the most talented players available, regardless of position. I think we did a good job of accomplishing both goals.”

The Commodores signed four prospective offensive linemen, four probable receivers and four hopefuls for the defensive secondar. The three areas were most affected by personnel losses.

“We are down two starters in the offensive line and a pair of starters at the receiver position, so those were areas of special emphasis in the class,” Johnson said.
