NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt officials have announced that the NCAA baseball regional set for this weekend at Hawkins Field is officially sold out.
The last of the 3,700 tickets were sold online early this morning. Hawkins Field seats a little over 2,000 in its current configuration and 1,500 bleacher seats were added last week as well as 200 standing-room-only tickets in the patio area in left field.
“The Commodores incredible run in the SEC Tournament definitely helped the tickets sell out in just under 36 hours,” Athletic Ticket Office manager Eric Jones said. “The fans have supported this team all season and showed their support for a top team, by purchasing everything that we put out on the ticket market.”
The Commodores, the No. 1 national seed, will play Austin Peay on Friday at 7 p.m. The other two teams in the regional, Michigan and Memphis will play each other in the first game of the day at 2 p.m.
There are two games scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and at the same times on Sunday as well.
The tournament is a double elimination format so an additional game could be played on Monday at 6 p.m. if there are two teams with one loss each after Sunday.
“I think the middle Tennessee area is really excited about this team as evidenced by the speed in which we sold out of our stadium which was almost double the original capacity,” Director of Athletic Marketing Eric Nichols said.
If the Commodores win the regional they will then host the Super Regionals next weekend at Hawkins Field. For possible ticket info on the Super Regional call (615) 322-GOLD.
