NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Four members of the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team received Academic All-District honors, announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
For the second straight season, senior Bridget Stammel and junior Valeria Ray were named to the Academic All-District list, joined in 2026 by sophomores Trinetra Vijayakumar and Sophia Webster. Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 75% of team-scoring competition while maintaining a cumulative GPA above 3.5 for the fall and spring semesters. Both Ray and Webster played in all 32 of the team’s dual matches, followed by Stammel at 31 and Vijayakumar at 29. All four had a GPA above a 3.7, led by Webster with a 3.89. Ray was just behind with a 3.81, with Stammel at a 3.80 and Vijayakumar at a 3.77.
Stammel wrapped up her final season with the black and gold at a 21-7 mark, leading the team in dual match wins. She posted a 9-5 singles record against SEC opponents. Stammel also led the team in eight ranked wins throughout dual match play. The Dallas, Texas native achieved career-high rankings in both singles and doubles, reaching No. 6 in the ITA singles list while climbing as high as No. 10 in doubles alongside Ray. The two generated a 20-5 mark together in dual matches. Stammel concluded her last season as a Commodore with a first-team All-SEC selection in April.
Ray joins Stammel on the All-District list for a second consecutive year after going 19-8 in singles and 23-5 in doubles throughout Vanderbilt’s dual matches, primarily playing doubles partnered with Stammel. On Jan. 25, Ray earned the highest-ranked singles win of her career with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Michigan’s No. 3 Piper Charney. She sat just behind Stammel for the team-high in ranked victories, generating four in 2026 dual matches. Ray followed up a breakout sophomore season with first-team All-SEC honors for her play as a junior.
Both Vijayakumar and Webster secured their first entry onto the CSC Academic All-District list. Vijayakumar finished her sophomore campaign with 14 total dual match wins, 10 coming in singles to go along with four in doubles. Webster reached a career-high No. 2 in the ITA doubles rankings this season, primarily playing alongside graduate Célia-Belle Mohr. The pair notched four ranked victories throughout dual match play, highlighted by a 6-2 takedown of Georgia’s No. 8 ranked Deniz Dilek and Aysegul Mert that led to the Commodores’ 4-2 win over the top-ranked Bulldogs on March 6. Additionally, Webster produced 14 singles victories in dual matches, finishing out the season with a 7-5, 6-4 defeat of Hephzibah Oluwadare against No. 3 seeded Ohio State at the Columbus Super Regional.
