TULSA, Okla. — Joubert Klopper earned a three-set win in his debut at the ITA All-American Championship to lead Vanderbilt men’s tennis as qualifying rounds of the event began Monday.
The fifth-year student-athlete defeated nationally-ranked Andrew Zhang of Duke 6-3 in the deciding set, and will continue in qualify-round play on Tuesday morning. Nathan Cox fell in both singles and doubles—paired with Jeremie Casabon—in a third set in his first matches of the tournament, and the pair of Juan Lopez and Michael Ross were defeated in their opening qualifying doubles match by a nationally-ranked opponent.
