NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt swimming coach Jeremy Organ has announced the signing of Catherine Cornelson and Chelsea Morey to National Letters of Intent. Morey and Cornelson will join the Commodores in the fall of 2009.
“I am very excited about the addition of these two fine ladies,” Organ said. “Chelseaand Rose (Catherine) are excellent backstrokers and they will have an immediate impact on our team.”
Morey is coming off a strong junior season at Hutchinson High where she finished sixth in the 100-yard backstroke at the Kansas State High School Swimming Championships.
In addition to swimming for their high school teams, both Morey and Cornelson are very active on their club teams. Morey is a member of the Wichita Swim Club while Cornelson competes for Swim Spartanburg.
Cornelson, a native of Deerfield, Mass., won the 100-yard backstroke championship at the New England Prep School Swimming Championships. The Deerfield, Mass., native attends Deerfield Academy.
The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team will be in action next on Jan. 17, 2009 as they take on South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
