NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior midfielder Bri Gross was named preseason American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year by ILWomen Friday. Earlier this month she was named to the ILWomen preseason All-America team.
“Bri has been an integral part of our offensive game plan since she stepped on campus three seasons ago. She brings a great deal of abilities to our group, she can score, create, and be a decoy when we need her to be,” assistant coach Rob Bray said. “She is a team-first player who has a competitive spirit that drives our team’s success. We are very excited for her to be recognized in this role and we are confident she is up to the challenge.”
Gross scored a team-high 31 goals as a junior last season. She also led the Commodores in points and goals as a sophomore in 2020.
Gross’s 84 draw controls in 2021 set the program single-season record, and she enters her senior year third on the Vanderbilt all-time list.
She was one of three Commodores named first team All-AAC last year.
Gross and Vanderbilt start the season at home Feb. 12 vs. Liberty.
