Moore, Loftus sign pro deals

Nashville, Tenn. – Pitcher Navery Moore signed a professional contract with the Atlanta Braves this week to become the seventh Commodore to ink a pro contract. Outfielder Joe Loftus signed a deal with Arizona to become the eighth of 12 drafted Dores to turn pro this summer.

Moore turned in an outstanding junior campaign going 4-2 with a 1.21 ERA and matched the school record with 11 saves. Loftus battled injuries early in the year and played in 32 games hitting .222 with seven RBI.

Four Commodores that were drafted have yet to sign with the deadline for major league teams coming up on Monday, August 15. Grayson Garvin (Tampa Bay), Jason Esposito (Baltimore), Jack Armstrong (Houston) and Will Clinard (Minnesota) have until 11:01 p.m. CT Monday night to reach a deal with their respective teams.
