Mohr, Ray Bring Home All-SEC Honors

Commodore duo earns All-SEC recognition for regular season efforts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After leading Vanderbilt to a tie for third place in the regular season conference standings, senior Célia-Belle Mohr and sophomore Valeria Ray were awarded with All-SEC honors, announced by the SEC on Wednesday.

The pair paced the Dores in capturing their most conference wins, 11, since the 2017-18 season. No. 7-ranked Mohr was named First Team All-SEC after finishing with a team-high 11 ranked wins in singles, three of which came over top-10 opponents: No. 3 Mary Stoiana of Texas A&M, No. 4 DJ Bennett of Auburn and No. 6 Elza Tomase of Tennessee. It is Mohr’s third consecutive First Team All-SEC recognition. She owns a 20-8 overall record, 12-5 in SEC play, all of which have come at the No. 1 singles position. Mohr generated a 10-win streak from Jan. 31 to March 16 in dual match play. Primarily partnered with freshman Sophia Webster, she has captured 22 doubles wins this season, and along with Webster reached as high as No. 9 in the ITA doubles rankings. Mohr added another six ranked victories in doubles play, totaling a team-high 17 ranked wins across singles and doubles.

Ray earned Second Team All-SEC honors, producing the most overall singles wins in the SEC throughout the regular season. She sits on a 30-10 record, 9-6 SEC, to go along with five ranked victories. Her season was highlighted by a 17-match win streak that included a 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6) takedown of No. 15 Nicole Khirin, helping Vanderbilt secure a 5-2 victory over No. 2 Texas A&M. Ray began dual match play at No. 3 singles, going 5-0 before moving up to the No. 2 position and racking up 11 more wins. She has achieved high ITA rankings of No. 56 in singles and No. 64 in doubles.

No. 15 Vanderbilt awaits where it will land in the NCAA Tournament, with the opening round beginning May 2. The tournament selection show is set to take place on April 28 at 4 p.m. and will be streamed online.
