Missouri Takes the Series

Commodores fall 4-1 in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Vanderbilt fell 4-1 to Missouri in the series finale Sunday at Taylor Stadium.

Vanderbilt scored first with the help of a Missouri error in the top of the first. Ryker Waite was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and stole second base. Waite scored from second on the defensive miscue as the Dores jumped out to a 1-0 lead.

Missouri answered back with a three-run frame in the home half. The Tigers took advantage of a leadoff walk followed by three singles and an RBI groundout before the Dores got off the field.

After a combined four runs in the first, neither team scored until the eighth inning.

Jacob Faulkner took over on the mound for the Commodores in the second and held Missouri scoreless over 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits.

Missouri hit a leadoff triple to start the bottom of the eighth. A sac fly gave the Tigers a 4-1 advantage.

The Commodores were unable to mount a rally in the ninth as Missouri clinched the series with a 4-1 win in the finale.

Vanderbilt returns to Nashville and will wrap up the regular season with a three-game series against South Carolina beginning Thursday at Hawkins Field.
