Mike Calitri Named Director of Baseball Operations 9/27/2005 Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin announced the hiring of Mike Calitri as the new director of baseball operations. Calitri played for four seasons at Clemson from 1997-2000, while Corbin was an assistant coach there. Calitri helped lead the Tigers to the 2000 College World Series, then signed a professional contract with Cincinnati. The Boston, Mass., native played for three years in the Reds organization from 2000-02 and was a member of the Stockton Ports that won the California League championship in 2002. He played in the Boston organization in 2003, before going back to Clemson to complete his degree requirements in the fall of 2004. He earned a bachelor?s degree in marketing last December and worked in private business prior to his hiring at Vanderbilt. Calitri replaces Cliff Godwin who was named an assistant coach at Notre Dame over the summer. |
