Lacrosse faces second straight ranked opponent

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – Vanderbilt lacrosse hits the road for back-to-back games this week, kicking off with a midweek matchup at No. 22 Penn State on Wednesday afternoon. Opening draw is slated for noon CT and will be shown on B1G+.

The Dores are coming off a 20-5 loss to 11th-ranked Florida on Saturday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. Juniors Kemper Robinson and Cate Bradley each tallied two goals for the Commodores. The Gators were powered by Danielle Pavinelli who posted seven points off five goals and two assists. Liz Harrison recorded a game-high 14 draw controls.

Penn State checks in this week at No. 22 after falling to Ohio State, 9-8, last Thursday. Lauren Saltz, Gretchen Gilmore, Emma Kelly and Meghan Murray all registered two goals in the game. The Nittany Lions outshot the Buckeyes, 27-24 but Ohio State goalie, Regan Alexander, made 11 saves to secure the win. Ohio State kept Penn State to just five draw controls in the game, however, the Nittany Lions forced 14 Buckeye turnovers.

The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series with Vandy, 14-8. The Dores topped Penn State, 10-9, last season in Music City. Brianne Gross registered a hat trick in the win and goalie Paige Gunning made 15 saves.
