Trio of Dores honored on watch lists

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Miller Green and Sawyer Hawks were named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List and Jonathan Vastine was named to the College Baseball Foundation Brooks Wallace Award Watch List.

Green and Hawks are two of 56 relief pitchers on the watch list for the nation’s top reliever.

Hawks has six saves this season and boasts a 1.34 ERA over 33.2 innings of work. He has 46 strikeouts to seven walks and is holding opposing hitters to a .152 average.

Green has five saves and a 3.71 ERA over 13 appearances. In 17 innings, the southpaw has 20 strikeouts to six walks and is limiting hitters to a .213 average.

Vastine is one of 100 shortstops selected to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, recognizing the nation’s top shortstop. Vastine is one of Vanderbilt’s hottest hitters as of late, registering a .323 average in SEC play. On the season, Vastine has five home runs, 26 RBI and defensively has helped lead Vanderbilt to the SEC’s best fielding percentage.
