Coach Scott Limbaugh on the Season-Opening Tournament
“It’s exciting for us to get everyone back together and start trying to form our team identity,” said Limbaugh. “It’s always fun to see a new team take shape and see who steps up as leaders.  I’m not worried about the talent with these guys, it’s more about seeing a hunger and desire to be our best. We had several guys play some outstanding golf throughout the summer and have continued that good play through our first couple of weeks here. I want us to have an attitude of belief and some conviction about the type of team we are going to be.

“This is another new event for us on a PGA Tour course. We continue to try and give our players the chance to compete against the best players on the biggest stages college golf has to offer.”

2023-24 Season Outlook
Expectations are again high for the Vanderbilt men’s golf team heading into the 2023-24 season. The Commodores recently came in at No. 2 in the Golf Channel preseason rankings, while Vandy ranked No. 3 in the Golfweek Golf Coaches Association poll.

The Commodores are well represented on Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine’s preseason All-American selections, as he projects a trio of Vanderbilt men’s golfers to earn accolades this season. Sargent, who helped the United States win the Walker Cup last weekend after going 4-0 at St Andrews, highlighted the group as a first team All-American selection. Senior Cole Sherwood and graduate student William Moll were each recognized as second team All-Americans. Junior Jackson Van Paris was also included in the group of ‘Next Five’ by Golf Channel.
