AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman Jenn Mann and sophomore Chrissy Oberg each set a new school record in the 100 yard breaststroke and 100 and 200 backstroke, respectively, at the 2012 AT&T USA Swimming Winter National Championships Nov. 29 – Dec. 1.
In the prelims of the 100 breast, Mann set the school record at 1:02.11, which she had already set earlier this season. Mann’s time advanced her to the C Final in the event where she finished seventh with a time of 1:02.54.
Mann also competed in the 200 breast where she again finished seventh in the C Final with a time of 2:15.34.
Oberg set school records in the prelims of the 100 and 200 back. Her time of 55.99 broke the previous 100 back record of 57.04 by Jess Eccher. In the 200 back, Oberg finished with a time of 1:57.94, which smashed Eccher’s record of 2:02.02.
In the 200 backstroke, Oberg came in eighth in the B Final with a time of 1:59.01. Hannah Martin also swam in the 200 back, but did not qualify for the finals with her time of 2:02.17.
Vanderbilt returns to the Centennial Sportsplex after nearly two months off from competition, as the Commodores host Evansville Jan. 12, in the first meet of the 2013 calendar year.
